My Own Worst Enemy

John and Shelly walked out of the recording studio today with a long last "Whew! It's not easy to record your own voice," suggested John. Can you imagine how you would feel if you had to stand in a recording room by yourself and listen with headphones. Sound easy? Actually, they suggest it's much easier to sing in front of a crowded room. The interaction creates energy. Staring at a wall almost traps you and your mind. Shelly feels this is was the easiest recording session yet she can still pick apart a song.

Of course, we know most of us are there own worst enemies. John and Shelly criticized each vocal line but the average person will be thrilled with the overall sound. The recording studio suggested they make an album and not just use it as a demo. In the very near future, they will upload a couple of the tracks so you can take a listen.

Adele's having it herway!

We've been singing at Adele's since February of this year and for that we are very greatful. She is the owner as well as being one of the biggest hearts on the face of the earth. Might I say, she is no one to kick around either.

Her favorite song for John to sing is "My Way". She will pull up her chair to the stage. So cute! I believe her father used to sing that to her and she cries every time. It's great that we can bring back the beautiful memories with song, don't you think? How wonderful is it that it takes it right back to that moment with smells and feelings we'll never forget.

My mother was sick for awhile but bringing her to hear John sing left all her worries at home. She always commented how music took all her worries and pains away. Isn't that a blessing as well?

Music is very interesting to me. There are very few songs in the world that are the same. I keep wondering how so many musicians can keep coming up with more music. Of course, we are partial to the old stuff because it was the best of the best and everyone else learned from it but none the less, there is always a new sound that melts like butter in our ears.

Well, we hope you come on down to Adele's this Friday. We'll be gone next week on the 25th but we'll be back again October 3rd. See you all soon!

Solone draws the chicks!

"It's not unusual to be loved by anyone! It's not unusual to have fun with anyone", as Tom Jones might sing should be the theme song for John Solone. He's always got the ladies surrounding him. Why? Because he sings the songs they love and he's quite charming. Solone has no problem moving in close to sing heart stoppin' balad to a lady he picks out of the crowd. He knows how to make a lady's night!
I'm John's sidekick so I see it all and I can tell you that he truly loves the ladies and they love him. Currently, we are playing at Adele's at the San Clemente Inn. John can rip up the hearts for awhile and when I feel it's time for people to rip up the dance floor, then I jump up and fire up the stage with my silly behavior. Actually, the band and I just have a blast. I must brag about our jazz trio. We have Don Chatfield on keys, Logan Bacarach on Sax, and Scott Ickes on drums. No canned music here. What they do is a constant surprise!
It's funny but music really draws people together. So, if you are feeling down and out, get out of your box and go out and listen to some live music. People can an illness and forget completely about it once they hear songs that take them back in time. We sing those old songs so come on down and check it out.

Ol' Blue Eyes and More

Hey Everyone!

Here's a quick introduction to who we are. John Solone and I, Shelly Morgan are singers and we just love life because we can. Here's the real truth. John sounds remarkably like Sinatra. Close your eyes and you might think Frank came back to haunt us all. John has the same tone as well as a similar swagger. He can pull off a nice Dino as well. John is 100% Italian. Giovanni Anthony Solone fits the entire mold of those Rat Pack Days. Although he loves those guys, John's favorite singer of all time is Vic Damone.

For myself, I sound like no one but myself because of my little desert twang I grew up with. The best way to describe my sound is you mix Etta James and Peggy Lee and Pasty together. That's me. John says Kay Starr but I think not. My favorites to copy are Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy, Patsy, and KD Lang. I'm a bit more playful on stage than John, not like "I love Lucy" but let's just say I love to be silly and serious and sometimes at the same time.

We live in two locations: San Clemente and Palm Desert, CA. If you are looking for entertainment for a special event, we can make a lot of people smile. The young folks like us too because we really mix up the set list with ballads and uptempo tunes.
